Hi Dr. Nicole,

I'm glad you found the article interesting! CRF is a major problem for people fighting cancer which is only recently getting the scientific attention it deserves.

One of my favorite natural products for improving mood in cancer patients is theanine. Theanine is an amino acid found in green tea that has been found to promote a sense of relaxation and the ability to alleviate both mental and physical stress. I like to recommend theanine because when people drink green tea they receive benefits from the many other cancer-fighting properties in green tea.

Hve a great day,

Thanks Dr. Psenka! What a great article on CRF!

This will serve as a valuable reference and resource for both doctors and patients alike.

Glad to know about the connection with TNF alpha and serotonin. If we don't understand the physiology behind CRF it is difficult to treat the cause.

Understanding this serotonin connection is very important when addressing depression related issues in those with cancer as well and an important factor to keep in mind when "treating the whole patient", as we don't want to make the patients fatigue worse while addressing the depression.

What would you recommend in lieu of the typical natural serotonin enhancing alternative medicine for addressing mood disorders in those with cancer?
