Hi
Excellent ideas indeed,we must take our children back to the world of music,
so much better for the soul than kids sitting playing x-box or nintendo ds all day,
this only leads children to despair, and it`s cheaper to go buy the kids an instument
than buy a game at 40 bucks every other month or so.

Recently I was in the car with my youngest son, with the radio on. A song came on that he had heard at a friends house - and he started singing it. It was a very neat moment, he was really into it. Now, when we're in the car, he tries to find that song again (usually a hard thing to do), although just a week ago - he did!

And, for piano lessons - he takes them with a neighbor kid who is in high school. While he may not have the most experience teaching, what he does do well is connect with my son. Sometimes they'll go outside afterward and play basketball or catch with a football. And it makes the connection stronger - which at my son's age (10) and playing ability, that works out really well.

The live performances is a great idea, and one we don't really do - I'm looking into that one - thanks!

Great article!!
