We appreciate your support of this ever growing vision of promoting natural medicine safely and effectively through the medium of blogging.

We invite you to write a one or two sentence bio about yourself and your website for the end of the article. We will also link back to your site THREE times in your article! Guest posting is a great way to share your ideas while gaining exposure to new readers at a popular website.

We are happy to have many different types of health care professionals offering their advice and opinions at the kitchen table. The purpose of this page is to ensure continuity throughout our guest posts so that the readers of Kitchen Table Medicine can easily enjoy your article without confusion. Any articles not following the below criteria will unfortunately be rejected without further explanation, so please do carefully read the requirements! We are very busy here and do not have time to spend editing, correcting, or un-formatting and reformatting your writing.

If you follow the directions perfectly you should easily receive an e-mail announcing your articles acceptance and estimated posting time frame. Please do follow the directions carefully, as even the most perfect article takes us at least an hour to get presented just right for our readers.

Criteria for guest posting is quite simple:

  • Bring your BEST to the table. This is your chance to shine and advertise yourself. Writing a great article is the best way to showcase your knowledge to a new set of readers. Poorly written articles full of typos and grammatical problems are simply unacceptable.
  • Provide never before published content on the internet. The reason for this is search engines like Google and Yahoo will ding and potentially disable this site for “duplicate content” aka plagiarism if your article appears elsewhere. You are welcome to “loosely” rework an old article, which should alleviate this problem. However, new fresh, never before seen content is best for this medium. If you have a long post published on your site, give us the take home message or the cliff notes version and we will link back to the article you are referencing for those that are interested.
  • Submit only Microsoft Word documents or Wordpad WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL FORMATTING. PDF’s are not acceptable. Please do not add bullets or fonts, this is very timely to convert to blogging software and most likely will suspend the posting process of your article indefinitely as we have to go through the article and remove all the HTML tags that formatting creates. We will instead format your article for you!
  • Have standard research references from articles found on Pubmed.gov, listed if References: 1. 2. 3. etc…if pertinent.
  • 400 word minimum. 5000 Word Maximum. Please ask yourself if you really need to exceed 5000 words with what you need to say. Most internet readers will be bored by an article after two to three paragraphs. Short bulleted lists (please don’t format them though) are usually more effective for communicating on the internet.
  • When submitting a bulleted list please place asterisks in front of that which you would like bulleted.
  • This is a FAMILY medicine site, please keep your discussions at middle school and high school reading levels, candid and conversational. Save the confusing medical jargon for wowing your fellow nerdy doctor friends. Please be fun and funny!
  • Because this is a family medicine site, absolutely no discussions of sex or other topics that are not “G” rated. Parents should feel comfortable allowing their children to play around on this site.
  • Absolutely no patient case examples will be permitted, you are welcome to discuss “generically” what works for your patients, but we do not want patients thinking that we are talking about them on the internet. Oh the HORROR!!! Please always respect patient confidentiality to the extreme, especially in open forums.
  • Please do NOT promote products that you sell. Only the products approved by the physicians on this site will be discussed in articles. We are promoting YOU and your website, if readers want to buy something you sell they may do so if they motivated to visit your website from your engaging fabulous writing. If you are interested in sponsoring this site we will review your products to determine if they are candidates for promotion.
  • Be safe with your advice, limit it to basic self help that people can safely implement without the supervision of a doctor. We are covering the “basics” here, hammering out hype, and helping get people pointed in the right direction with our unique ideas. Let’s save the extreme protocols for in office appointments only (and have a reason for patients to still come see us).
  • Include a professional photo along with your office contact information so readers can find you to make an appointment.
  • Remember that “Dr. Nicole” is the host of this website so please do let her introduce you to her readers, as well as promote or recommend your website, book, cause, or business at the end of the article.
  • Discussion questions, article titles, and photographs for your article will all be handled by Kitchen Table Medicine. You write the article, and we do the rest! If you have a photo of a random food or herb that you are discussing that we may not have access to and it is of magazine quality, and not a copyright infringement, you are welcome to submit it for consideration.
  • You may offer suggestions for links within your post, but we will always use our own articles to inter-reference when at all possible. We will link back to your site three times. Tell us what you want us to link to!
  • Please do try to respond to your comments in a timely manner. We aim for a 24-48 hour response time when at all possible and our blogging software will conveniently e-mail you whenever a reader’s comment has been added to your post. We will use the email address that you submit your article with unless you specify otherwise.
  • We reserve the right to edit all articles that may go beyond simple grammar and spelling edits. The reason for this is we are aiming to make your article search engine friendly so that MANY people can find it and read it. Please do not be upset if your article is slightly altered for these purposes. Also, we have more experience here with blogging, know what engages readers, and works best for our particular audience.
  • No discussions of homeopathy, craniosacral, energy healing and other such “woo woo” controversial subjects currently lacking medical research will be permitted at this site. It is not that we do not appreciate or respect energy healing modalities, it is simply that we are trying to offer alternative medicine advice that can be widely accepted and utilized by the mainstream medical community. If you write on these topics, then simply talk about something else for Kitchen Table Medicine and we will link back to your site, where you are free to discuss these topics in depth.
  • Please do be respectful of others in the health care field. We do not allot disrespectful controversy.
  • Articles that relate to ALL of our readers will only be candidates for the top position on the blog. Articles that are more specific to individual complaints will be ordered after the daily motivation, inspiration or diet tip. Please do not be upset if your article is not in the number one position, they are ordered simply to be “user friendly” not based on quality.
  • For the best success of your article please ENGAGE the reader. This is not some boring school homework assignment that no one ever reads, this is making medicine fun!!! Thousands of people will be reading your article, so please do take the time to add humor liberally, use pop culture examples if you can, throw in some fun factoids to get people thinking, be IMAGINATIVE, and ultimately try to relate to the average American that is most likely reading your words. Please do show off your expertise on a variety of topics. Be fabulous. Be fun! We want to make YOU shine at the kitchen table!
  • Now that you have read all that, simply submit your article to nicolesundene(at)hotmail(dot)com

Thank you for your contributions!

Let’s all celebrate natural medicine and show off what we know best!
