The Adam & Eve Diet Plan

bonniebeach.jpgWhen I consider all the diets on the market, I can’t help but wonder how Adam and Eve ate.

I mean, there was no paparazzi to capture them eating at the trendy “Garden of Eden Café” nor were there tabloids exploiting Eve’s hot body and her latest “In the Garden Workout”.

Diet and exercise as we know it didn’t even exist.

Deep fryers weren’t even invented and the closest thing to fast food was picking an apple off a tree. High calorie foods simply were not as easy to come by and exercise was a just way of life.

No one had to tell Adam and Eve to workout, they got plenty of exercise with their standard daily duties. I bet we’d burn a lot more calories and eat a lot less if we had to live like they did.

With that in mind, I really doubt obesity was much of an issue. Eve couldn’t have just gone to Publix to pick up a few groceries. Collecting food took time and energy. Since there was no refrigeration, it was essential the food was fresh for each meal so the chores were never-ending.

I don’t know about you, but I think God is pretty smart. We humans are the ones who goof everything up. He created a lifestyle complete with everything we need to eat and live healthy.

We are the ones who not only have turned eating into entertainment but we’ve become greedy and impatient. We want to get the most food for the money and there better not be a long wait.

If that was not bad enough, we’ve created a ton of shortcuts in life to actually avoid burning extra calories. We circle parking lots to avoid extended walks and wouldn’t dare get up from the couch to change the channel.

If we were to go on “Adam & Eve’s Diet and Exercise Program”, we’d eat more fresh whole foods, take fewer shortcuts and increase our activity. It all makes since. Like I said, I think God’s smart and His original design was a pretty good one.

    Hi Bonnie,

This is the first post I’ve read of yours and it’s a great one. I totally agree with your words, “We are the ones who not only have turned eating into entertainment but we’ve become greedy and impatient.”. And we want “the big one”, and then wonder why so many people are obese.

    Yes, God’s plan was perfect.

Yes, God always did know and still does know what is best for us both physically, spiritually, emotionally and in all aspects of life. It’s only when WE get in the way and mess with things and do things our OWN way that things go wrong. We try to invent our own foods with all kinds of junk in it and well, no wonder we have so many health problems. Only makes sense. Good post Bonnie.

Thanks for this great article Bonnie! I agree whole heartedly agree that God/nature should not be messed with. Everything we need to be healthy is always right at our fingertips but then the media has to tempt us with flashy ads, and refined foods. Oh if Eve only wouldn’t have taken a bite of that apple!

I’ve just written a post called things that make me go hmm and you’ve just reminded me of one that I forgot about.

People that circle the parking lot looking for a place to park near the door at the………..GYM!

Seriously, I see this every time I go there when it’s busy. It’s parking lot the size of Delaware and people are sat waiting to so they can avoid walking 100 yards before they work out!

Thanks for the feedback! It is funny how we overcomplicate dieting. If we would all just go back to the basics we’d be much healthier. :)

That is so funny Tim! …and SO TRUE!! We have a large all-women’s health club and our parking lot can get super packed. I have to laugh when some of the ladies complain about having to park far away…only to walk on 3 miles on the treadmill!!

The funny thing about diets and weight loss plans are their are so many and all do not work for everyone. The thing that you have to do is to keep trying different plans until you find the one that gets you the results you are looking for.

The most important thing is to keep on trying and you will find it.

If you check out enough diet sites you will find certain things that run through all of them and these generally are the things that you use to create your diet foundation.

I kept on searching until I found one that would allow me to eat whatever I wanted and still get in shape. I also shared this with some other people who thank me daily.

    Keep trying and don’t stop!
